Safeguarding
The South Wolds Academy and Sixth Form is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, which includes;
-
Protecting children from maltreatment;
-
Preventing the impairment of children's mental and physical health or development;
-
Ensuring that children grow up in circumstances consistent with the provision of safe and effective care;
-
Taking action to enable all children to have the best outcomes.
All concerns are dealt with by staff trained to the same level as that of the ‘Designated Safeguarding Lead'. As a team, we recognise our responsibilities for safeguarding children and protecting them from harm.

Should you have any concerns about your child or a child who attends The South Wolds Academy please do not hesitate to contact any one of the Designated Safeguarding Leads via office@southwolds.uk
Any safeguarding concern relating to the Head Teacher should be reported to the Chair of Governors via chair@southwolds.uk
Causes for concern:
All staff are asked to report any causes for concern via our online system, My Concern. If concerns are immediate then staff will speak directly to one of the safeguarding leads in school. Concerns will be shared with parents/carers as appropriate and as early as possible as there are often reasonable explanations for the concern.
Attendance:
Absence and lateness is closely monitored by Miss Parkin - Attendance and Family Liaison Officer. Reasons are sought for all absences. Concerns around attendance may be referred to the Designated Safeguarding Lead Officer. Parents/carers will be notified of attendance concerns at the earliest convenience. Miss Parkin can be contacted via absence@southwolds.uk
Support for Families via Multi Agency Working:
The South Wolds Academy works collaboratively with external agencies to ensure that children are safeguarded and welfare is promoted as outlined in Working Together to Safeguard Children guidance. We actively work with families to secure positive outcomes for both children and families.
Out of hours safeguarding concern:
If you have concerns for the safety of a child out of school hours, please contact Nottinghamshire Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub: 0300 500 80 80 or visit the website. If you require an urgent response outside of working hours (08:30-17:00), contact Nottinghamshire’s Emergency Duty Team (EDT) on 0300 456 4546.
If the child lives in Nottingham City please contact Child and Families Direct: 0115 8764800 or visit the Nottingham City Safeguarding Children Partnership website.
